Electronics Technician II
This electronics technician position, a non-exempt/hourly position, will report to the VP of Operations. This position will require a wide range of technical, general electrical construction skills, hands-on installation, troubleshooting, task management and customer service skills. Applicant will have detailed knowledge of security electronics hardware including, but not limited to, door locks and sensors, cameras and video recording systems, access control systems, audio communication systems and powered fence systems.
Specific Responsibilities
Possess the ability to assemble and wire custom control panels, while adhering to schematic diagrams and panel layout drawings
Install, terminate, test, and commission security electronics equipment, including, but not limited to, access control systems, analog and IP video systems, intelligent locking systems, network switches, audio communications systems and PLC-based touchscreen control systems
Configure security devices and systems such as IP cameras, VMS systems, access control
Install raceway and cable for security electronics equipment
Assist and work with other electronic technicians, engineers, and subcontractors
Maintain positive budgets on assigned project functions
Perform maintenance/service on installed equipment at customer facilities, and generate reports detailing problems/solutions
Ability to work with customers with professionalism and maturity
Be willing to learn new systems, technologies, and products
Ability to be adaptable, flexible, and work well in a team setting
Complete assigned projects from start to finish providing needed, system configuration, installation, and customer interfacing
Education/Experience
High School Diploma and 2-year technical associates degree (preferred)
Proficient with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software products
Skilled in working with common hand tools, power tools, multi-meters, and cable testing equipment
Previous experience installing security devices such as Card Readers, Cameras, Request to Exit devices and their associated cable/conductors
Ability to troubleshoot and repair systems
Experience configuring and video equipment such as IP based Cameras and Video Management Systems
4+ years of work experience installing and servicing security electronic systems
Specific Requirements
Work from customer specifications to design and develop security control systems
Program and test security electronics equipment at correctional and commercial/other facilities throughout the Midwest
Facilitate security electronics system commissioning (start-up) of projects
Diplomatically respond to clients with professionalism and maturity during the project lifecycle
Take substantial ownership of assigned projects and require minimal assistance / supervision from direct manager (solid Project Management skills)
Consistently maintain positive budgets on assigned project functions
Provide supervision of field technicians and temporary labor
Education/Experience
Recent PLC programming and HMI development experience
Integrated systems design experience
High School Diploma
4-year Technical Engineering Degree
General knowledge of security electronics hardware including, but not limited to, door locks, CCTV systems, access control systems and intercom communication systems would be beneficial
